9/3/09 IT’S ROCKET SCIENCE Review by Stephanie Johnson - Australian Stage Online
Science is for nerds, geeks, dweebs, dorks! Right? Rock’n’roll on the other hand…well it rocks! An Adelaide duo has come up with a formula that combines science and rock for kids at the Garden of Unearthly Delights. The result is a really cool rock’n’roll rocket show.
Like many shows for modern young audiences Rock Chick and Science Geek face the challenge of maintaining the kind of razzle-dazzle momentum that captivates attention for more than an hour. Nevertheless the capable couple (with band) manages to deliver a rocket-powered show to a sell-out audience.

If you're ready for lift off then this show is explosive fun for the whole family. Rock Chick Susi D and Science Geek David Lampard deliver a lively hour, action-packed with music, science tricks, gags and audience participation. The music is grungy fun, the rockets are regular and the adrenaline level high as Susi D and Lampard bounce off each other and the crowd. You'll learn a little, laugh a lot and bop along as they show even rocket science isn't rocket science. This is an ideal Fringe show for the whole family to hit the launch pad now. In short: It's a blast.

Count down to family fun and revel in this explosion of science-infused musical theatre. Super Science Geek David Lampard is not your average lab rat. He directed a sold-out season of Les Miserables for the Gilbert & Sullivan Society and has appeared on stage in professional musicals. Rock Chick Susi D, from the band Salty, is not only a great singer, she's awesome on guitar. The dynamic duo are well supported by drums and bass. It really does sound good, which is a blessing because songs about science outnumber experiments. Be prepared to lift off, wave your arms in the air and dance your way through the four forces of flight - "lift, gravity, thrust, drag". The show did take a little while to warm up, but it was full of laughs and finished on a high note with rockets galore. What a blast.
